The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon is its Most Luxurious Sports Watch Yet
Extra thin and extra luxurious.
While Vacheron Constantin’s integrated bracelet sports watch family continues to be desirable across its various models, the Overseas collection can be categorized into two distinct echelons. The first encompasses models with standard movements, while the second features more elegant options with thinner movements and a precious metal case.
The brand has recently unveiled a new model that falls into the latter category: the Overseas Tourbillon High Jewellery, marking the first time the collection features a baguette diamond bezel and a white gold case and bracelet.
Baguette diamond Maltese cross
While Vacheron Constantin previously offered an Overseas adorned with diamonds, these models were tailored specifically for ladies, featuring round diamonds on the bezel. In contrast, the newest addition, the Overseas Tourbillon High Jewellery, stands out for its uniqueness with a baguette diamond bezel and dial.Â
The incorporation of the baguette cut harmoniously complements the larger 42.5 mm case size, elevating its wrist presence and positioning it as the only jewelry piece in the collection that embraces a bolder and more robust style.
Complicated yet extra thin
Though the case size of 42.5 mm suggests a larger watch that might feel cumbersome, the Overseas Tourbillon High Jewelry defies this expectation. The cal. 2160 stands at a mere 5.65 mm tall, despite featuring both a tourbillon and an 80-hour power reserve.
This is attributed to clever construction, incorporating a peripheral rotor. Not only does this reduce thickness, but it also provides a better view into the components. As a result, the case measures only 10.39 mm, and the width-to-height ratio ensures it feels remarkably thin on the wrist, perfectly embodying the essence of a luxury sports watch – flat, wide, and exquisite.
Indeed, the Overseas Tourbillon High Jewelry is exquisite, both in the construction and finishing of its exteriors, such as the case and dial, as well as the movement within. Noteworthy is the movement’s demonstration of high quality, featuring beautifully designed bridges with elegant curves. These bridges are adorned with rounded polished bevels, and while the execution may not reach the utmost sharpness, the inclusion of such finishing places it among the top-tier sports watches with a tourbillon on the market.
