Cartier just announced a new model for their collection of Tank watches’; the Tank MC.
Very interesting is the fact that the model is presented in a high end skeleton version and at the same time, as a more affordable gold or steel version.
Both models have slightly different case dimension. The Tank MC Skeleton watch has a 43.90 mm x 39.10 mm
palladium case and the 9611MC mechanical Skeleton caliber. This is the high tech caliber that Cartier developed for the Santos Skeleton.
The movement is mechanical winding and has a power reserve of 72 hours. As with all models made in precious metals the crown is set with a sapphire. The model is expected in July and will be available as pictured here, but Cartier will also have two diamond-set versions available.
Due for a September release is the Tank MC in pink gold or in steel, both on alligator strap and with an adjustable double folding buckle in 18-carat pink gold or steel, (depending on the model). The movement is the by Cartier in La-Chaud-de-Fonds developed 1904 MC-PS automatic caliber, with aperture at 3 o’clock, small seconds at 6 o’clock. The Tank MC is featuring an almost square-shaped guilloché dial and looks quite different from most Tank models in the collection, because of the sub seconds @ 6.
The case of theTank MC measures 44 x 34.3mm, is 9.5mm thick, has a transparent sapphire crystal and will be available in several versions: besides the all-steel or pink gold case, with white- or chocolate dials, be prepared for diamond-set versions. Water-resistance of all Tank MC models is 30 metres.
As soon as the models are available in the Boutiques, we will do a hands on report.

What a wonderful new design! I wonder if MC stands for la ‘Montre Carree’? Square watch? Or it refers to the movement name? For a steel watch to get the in house movement is something I really look forward to. By the way, when you say it has a transparent sapphire crystal, do you mean the display back? Well done GEO!
Hi Sang, I have not seen the watch in the flesh yet, but the Tank MC has indeed a sapphire crystal
on both sides, so you can inspect the movement. Cartier will be using in house
calibers in more steel watches. Another watch that just got a new caliber is the Ballon Bleu Chronographe;
It now has the same movement as the Calibre Chronographe.
Now this is exciting! I love the look of both of these. Maybe not as affordable as the Tank Solo, but possibly at a fairly affordable price at least for the stainless steel model, which I love the look of!
The small seconds gives a great new look as well. I much prefer the small seconds to the look of second hand on some of the automatic watches, like the Tank Solo XL. The date window at 3 o’clock, which is not usually my favourite spot, is very well done, and really fits in beautifully on the dial. It just look like it belongs there.
I really prefer the looks of these to the Tank Anglaise. And with the new movement……
It looks like the stainless steel model will not be luminous? To me, this is a good thing. It was one of my major dislikes of my Calibre de Cartier, and a reason for my selling it.
It will be interesting to see if they will create a bracelet for the stainless steel version as well.
Very nice guilloche dials as well, and I like the crown, a bit larger size as well.

I forgot to mention: It looks like the parts of the case, which are between the lugs, are brushed just like on the Tank Solo. Difficult to see if the sides of the case are rounded or more flat than the traditional Tank.

But I am not 100% since I have not seen the watch in the flesh. I will see it on the 7th. of July.
